Any of the following subjects can be a talk of 20 minutes or as long as you want. All of my talks are interactive.
Some of my talks:
What is love?
This is one of my favorites. Someone said over 500 years ago that you can not know what love is until you have learned what love is not. So how come it's taking us so long to figure it out?! You're not looking for love in the wrong places. Love is everywhere. Your definition of love, what you're looking for, is what causes difficulties in relationships. When you stop looking for what love is not, you will find love! Discover what love really is so you'll be looking for what you really want! You'll come away from this experience with a different definition of love and how to find it in all of your relationships.
Money and the Meaning of Life
I'm an expert on the psychology of money. The purpose of the presentation is to demonstrate how exploring a one's financial life can lead to dramatic healing of psychological issues. A most troubling relationship is the relationship with money. Financial lives are rarely talked about, especially in psychotherapy. When's the last time you shared the details of your financial life at a social gathering or with your therapist? Given the importance of money in one's life, doesn't it make sense to explore your financial life? The presentation will help participants navigate rarely charted waters of their financial world. Working with money issues is one of the easiest ways to bring about psychological improvements. With the improvements in financial health comes improvements in emotional health.
The presentation will consist of didactic and experiential experiences to expand awareness of how one's financial life is not only a metaphor for the rest of one's life, but also an area where deep seated shame is hidden. The following areas will be presented: The secrecy of money, the meaning of money, the connection between shame and one's financial life, the different money personalities, using the financial life to further understand ourselves, family members, clients and treatment implications and strategies.
Taboo Topics: Sex & Money in Counseling & Mental Health
The purpose of the workshop is to look at how exploring financial and sexual lives can lead to dramatic healing of emotional and spiritual issues. Financial and sexual lives are rarely talked about. Given the importance of money and sex in one's life, doesn't it make sense to explore these areas, especially from psychological and spiritual perspectives? The presentation will help the participants navigate rarely charted waters.
The presentation will expand the awareness of how one's financial and sexual life is often a metaphor for life itself and may point to areas where deep seated shame is hidden. These are areas where the search for meaning is in full force. The following areas will be explored: The secrecy of sex and money, the meaning of sex and money, the connection between shame and one's financial and sexual life, using financial and sexual beliefs and feelings to further understand one's life, and treatment implications and strategies.
The role of shame in every day life
I explain what shame is and how it colors everything we do in life. I go on to explain how to find the shame in your life and heal it. The information in this workshop is pertinent to any group of people. Many of my talks include this subject.
On Being a Counselor (or office worker or president)
This is an inspirational talk. I talk about the importance of being who one is, finding meaning in your life, work and prospering at what you do and who you are.
How to be more spiritual
This topic covers how an increase in emotional health leads to greater spirituality. I talk about what spirituality is and the roadblocks that keep us less than spiritual.
Be a better communicator
I can talk about communication issues tailoring the talk to the group. So, parents hear about better communication with their kids, employers hear about better communication for the staff, etc. This is a fun one and applicable to any group.
The meaning of life and other stuff
This is a talk about how our lifestyle leads to unsatisfying lives and what to do about it. This is good for those with hurried lives. It covers how to change one's perception of there not being enough time. This one wakes people up as I present finding meaning as an important goal.
Are you the one for me?
This is a title to a manuscript I just sent off. Keep your fingers crossed it becomes a book. It's a way for couples or those thinking about being a part of a couple to further explore their relationship.

Other Topics for Presentation
I can talk about addictions, anything from basic kinds of talks on drugs and alcohol, to widening our definition of what is addiction and how it pertains to everyday life.
Sports Psychology
Why your diet didn't work and what to do about it.
This is a good beginning. I've given many more talks than these.
If you have a subject, I can usually give a talk on it. So if you come across someone wanting a speaker talking on a subject I haven't mentioned, try me. |
